Reflections on Superstorm Sandy

On this the first anniversary of the horrific
Superstorm Sandy, let us reflect on:

SOLIDARITY - we have demonstrated with the more
than 30 podiatrists in New York who lost their
offices or homes, a disaster unprecedented in the
history of podiatry;

GRATITUDE - we express for the vision and strong
sense of mission demonstrated by the leadership of
NYSPMA in initiating the distressed members loan
program;

SPECIAL THANKS to those who contributed both
financially and through other supports, including

• The members who opened their offices to impacted
members;

• NYSPMA Board for a significant commitment of
financial reserves,

• Many NYSPMA Divisions for their important
financial commitments,

• Our Guild, AFL-CIO for their generous grant,
received the same day as requested, and

• NYSPMA legal counsel, insurance consultants, PR
consultants, and others who advised members at no
charge with their advice on pressing issues,

AND HOPE that all members will have a complete and
speedy recovery, and that we never have to
experience such a disaster again.
