Minimum Age For Tagamet (Edwin Oghoorian, DPM)
RE: Minimum Age For Tagamet (Edwin Oghoorian, DPM) All other things being equal, cimetidine may safely be used in children, though it is not FDA approved for use in children under 16. Just recheck the medical and medicinal histories to ebsure there are no other extenuating contraindications. The youngest patient in our series was 3 years old (see our article in the May/June issue of JAPMA). Yes...you should follow the dosing protocol as originally recommended by Seth Orlow,M.D. and Amy Paller, M.D. Tagamet is available as an elixir 300mg/tsp. Hope this helps
