RESPONSES/COMMENTS (ARTICLE OF THE DAY) -PART 1A
From: Edward Cohen, DPM
The MIS Akin bunionectomy was very popular 40 years ago and had a lot of advantages such as minimal disability and was a relatively safe procedure that could also be performed on geriatrics. Dr Sullivan raises some good points that the correction is not nearly as good as a metatarsal osteotomy.
| Pre- and post-op (L) Katzen Wilson bunionectomy |
The MIS Katzen Wilson bunionectomy seems to have the best features of the metatarsal osteotomy with the minimal disability of the MIS Akin bunionectomy.
